ADHD/Autism Referrals & Shared Care – Important Information
Where appropriate, we can enter into shared care agreements with providers through the Right to Choose (RTC) pathway.
We cannot enter into shared care agreements with private providers.
If you are choosing a Right to Choose provider for an ADHD/Autism referral, please make sure you select a service that offers both assessment (diagnosis) and ongoing treatment, not assessment alone.
This is because our local NHS rules mean that:
Once Right to Choose has been used for an ADHD assessment, we cannot make a second Right to Choose referral for treatment only.
We cannot make a Right to Choose referral for treatment if you already have a private ADHD diagnosis.
We appreciate that other practices may do things differently, and we understand this can be frustrating and confusing. However, Scott Road Medical Centre has been clearly advised of the local NHS requirements and will follow them.
Thank you for your understanding.
