Healthy living and local support
Looking after yourself
Many minor illnesses can be treated at home. Doing that saves you a trip and frees up appointments for people who are more unwell.
The NHS website has advice on treating things like back pain, coughs, headaches, migraines, heartburn, constipation, blocked noses, acne, dermatitis, and sprains and strains.
- Health A to Z – conditions, symptoms and treatments, and when to get help
- Medicines A to Z – how your medicine works and its side effects
- Live Well – eating well, exercise, healthy weight, stopping smoking and drinking less
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Pregnancy
- Social care and support – help with day-to-day living
Wellbeing link workers
A wellbeing link worker gives you time to talk about what matters to you. They can connect you to community groups and services, for practical and emotional support.
What they arrange depends on what you need. It might be creative activities such as art, singing or dance. It might be walking football, gardening, fishing or knitting. It might be debt advice or housing support.
People who use the service often feel less isolated, less anxious and more confident.
To see a link worker:
- leave a message on the social prescribing option in Klinik
- phone reception on 01757 211750
A GP or nurse can also refer you, and reception may book you in if the service is right for you.
