Appointments
Urgent appointments
To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday):
- phone us on 01757 211750 and choose option 1, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
- visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
Phone as close to 8am as you can for a same day appointment.
Tell the receptionist briefly what is wrong. Our Same Day Care team will then phone you to talk about your symptoms.
If they think you need to be seen in person, they will offer you an urgent appointment with a clinician.
Routine appointments
To request a routine appointment:
- use our appointment request form on Klinik. You do not need an account. Requests sent after 6pm are reviewed the next working day
- phone us on 01757 211750 and choose option 1, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
- visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) to book a screening test or vaccination
When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.
You can book this way to see a healthcare assistant, nurse, physiotherapist, mental health practitioner or pharmacist.
How long you will wait
You will usually hear back from us within a few days. Your appointment may be 2 to 6 weeks later.
Waits can be longer when demand is high, staff are away, or around bank holidays.
If your symptoms get worse while you are waiting, contact us again on 01757 211750.
If you no longer need your appointment, please tell us so we can offer it to someone else.
Seeing the same clinician
If you have an ongoing problem, you can ask to see the same clinician again. Tell us when we ask about your symptoms and we will do this where we can.
Your appointment
However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery
- by text or email
Appointments by phone, text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
Please tell us as soon as you can if you cannot come. We can then offer the appointment to another patient.
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- use the GP online system – SystmOnline
- phone us on 01757 211750 and choose option 1, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
- come into reception
Other services that may help you sooner
Our reception team can also point you to services that may be quicker than waiting for a GP appointment:
- a pharmacist, for minor illnesses. Under Pharmacy First they can treat conditions such as urine infections, tonsillitis, shingles and infected insect bites. You can refer yourself to Pharmacy First, or ask us to refer you
- our wellbeing link workers, for practical and emotional support – see healthy living and local support
- the child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS), for under-18s – see refer yourself to a service
- NHS 111 online, when you are not sure where to go
- the NHS health A to Z, for advice on managing conditions yourself
Important: If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111. NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
Between 6pm and 6.30pm, you can phone 01904 943777 to speak to an emergency doctor.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, or by text or email
- if you would like a chaperone with you – see our chaperone policy
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.
To request a home visit, phone reception on 01757 211750 before 11am.
You can ask for a home visit if you are housebound, or too ill to come to the surgery. A GP will decide whether you need a visit and how urgently.
Coming to the surgery is better where you can, because we have equipment here that we cannot bring to your home.
If your GP refers you, a community nurse can also visit you at home.
