Getting your test results

If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.

Blood, urine, swab and x-ray results normally take about a week.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:

Questions about your results

If you want to talk to someone about your results, fill out our test results request form on Klinik and someone will be in touch.

A clinician reviews every result and decides whether you need a follow-up. Our admin team cannot comment on results.

Please check your results and book any follow-up appointment you need.

We can only give results to the person they are about. The exception is if that person has given permission, or cannot understand them.

Having a blood test

You can walk in for a blood test at:

  • Selby War Memorial Hospital, Monday to Friday, 7.45am to 5pm
  • York Hospital, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm

Both are closed on bank holidays.

Fasting blood tests

Fasting means drinking only water for 12 hours before your test. Do not eat, and do not drink tea or coffee.

If you have diabetes and have been asked to fast, speak to your diabetic nurse or doctor first.
